you will need the 5.33 diffs minimum. but while you are at it go 6.17 and fit 35's instead  now thats a conversion worth doing !!

you could also go a cheaper route and fit a mercedes/vw lt van gearbox 711-110,711-116 . this is also said to do the same thing as a diff change but i have not tried this ...... yet....

Thanks, I thought about the 35's but a few people have said that this makes the handling etc not so good on the SWB model. Do you have 35's on your vehicle? Think the 33's will look good also, I did see the Black Truck back from Mick the Digger, wonder what size those Tyres are?

i finally bit the bullet and went 35, but my 300td engine and 6.17 diffs help roll the 35's like they were stock. i would go 35x10.50x15 rather than 12.50 if you dont have a powerful engine..

good luck.

Just to understand, not sure what diffs i have, other than the standard set up, but how much will the bigger tyres effect the overall performance? did you notice much difference going up to such a big size?

your G probably has the 4.9 standard diffs which are really best suited for 205R16 tires.. even the 31x10.50x15 zapp a bit of torque....

i have read in various topics that the can gearbox will regain the lost torque due to the larger rolling radius of the bigger tire.

pm dentysmith [chris] he has the gearbox of a van on his 230 GES with 35 cooper stt's and he is very happy with it.
