Test drive of the G270CDI in Mercedes Enthusiast
The March issue of Mercedes Enthusiast has a comparative test report of the G270CDI LWB versus the ML270CDI.
I was told by Max Macarthur a couple of weeks back that he had spent the day with the guys from this magazine driving both vehicles off road around GWagen.co.uk's premises.
The reporting quality is not impresive, I mean, what is the purpose of a comparative off-road test drive in muddy England in winter if both vehicles are fitted with road tyres?.... That's why according to ME the G's off-road capabilities are not that far away from those of the M Class :lol: .
Anyway, pictures are excellent and at the end of the day the G doesn't get weekly media exposure in this country anyway so rush to the shop to secure your copy!
where do we get this magazine from then??
By the way, the August 2003 (22nd issue) has an article of a G290GDT's tour of the Sahara and the December 2001 issue (2nd issue) had an article of the 1999 G500 (by Caversham Garage, now GWagen.co.uk), but I'm afraid that this one is out of stock.

Brawn Vs Brains - Can the popular ML270 CDI match its rugged G-Wagen equivalent off-road?
Got my copy of ME this morning. Not a bad article really, it did make me laugh. In one sentance they say how the ML matched the G blow for blow, in the next they say the ML was strugling at it's limits while the G romped it all with ease :? ,, thats matching blow for blow then, i suppose :lol:
Still, i was surprised the ML managed at all on road tyres.
