I fitted a set of 285/75 16 mud terrains yesterday.

They look quite normal on my standard 463 rims, and clear the body all round, under all conditions. I had each wheel hanging today, without any shaving anywhere.

In my experience there is nothing like Good Year Wrangler MT/R, but because of the type of conditions where I drive, I can't afford to dish out £165 every time I lose a tyre. My car work for it's keep, and doesn't just go on the black stuff and pre-trailed tracks.

The tyre I went for is Federal Couragia M/T

At £80 all inclusive they are cheaper than remoulds, quiet on the road and seemed to have balanced very well with very few weights on the rims.

At the moment it is so whet over here that I can not really comment on the off road performance, even a Unimog will struggle now, but on the road they break very well.

They car has lost a bit of power with these big wheels on, but it is still well within what I would expect. If you want to drive fast, buy something else.

and if THAT tire is being reviewed on this link its got to be rated to be put up against maxxis, pitbull, cooper stt etc.

good tire for the money. [i recently brought a set of kumhos kl71 like on pp's n@s@n.. i was impressed to be honest with it in general]

i must say though that the stt is the best tire i have ever had

Re: New Tyres

Tested them today, unintentionally. Sold some pigs to somebody who fetched them with a new LR and horse box.
An hour later I got a phone call. LR stuck with jack knifed trailer on a VERY muddy field at a slope, right in the access gate.

Lets just say I got the LR out and then pulled the piggies to their new home. All is well that ends well.

So far I will buy them again, but I am a bit concerned about the side walls cracking and I drive mine mostly at 1.2 bar except when towing.

(Huss, K71's are the worst tyres I have ever had. I have a set with 2000 km on them in 245/75 16 you can have, if you dare...)

Re: New Tyres

I agree that they are ok off road, but the problem is stopping them an a wet road. I took them off after 2000 km because I feel the car can't stop good enough with them and the very first thing I do with a new car is check out the brakes.

Re: New Tyres

the roads here in n cyprus are like soap when it rains  pirelli p zero or even goodyear f1's wouldnt pass the test...!

but i must be honest, the kl71's seem ok i guess, although i onloy have them on occasionally. the cooper stt's however have covered a few miles and performed well in all conditions.looking at the kl71's against the coopers the quality difference is very obvious....

but what the heck, price is the important factor at the end of the day.
